This project was born from browsing Instagram an seeing a viral reel of a bunch of friends going skiing. Then another one of a guy shooting Xbox Kinect at a concert. I thought: What if I combine the two to make something ‘new’?
So I spent about a month making Kinect work (see reel below).
I asked my childhood friend Marek if he’d be willing to ski in this piece in a season where he could only do 2 days of skiing because of injuries.
We shot this during our holiday from working corporate jobs – 1 skiing day and 1 studio day for some Kinect shots and close-ups. Both days were super fun and I wish I could do more of such shoots.
I’m probably the most proud of the portrait shot with the snow reflection with no camera visible.
And this is the second edit. Fun fact, I experimented with 13 different versions of the edit before I landed on these two one color and one BW. It’s a personal project, so I can do more grades (:
A last fun or un-fun fact is that the BTS reel gets 20k views while the work itself gets 1k views. Food for thought.
